Mr. Briese’s DIM Class

SUPPLIES

- Most of the work we do in class will involve the use of the computers, so no extra supplies will be needed.

- A personal flash drive (2GB or more) would be very useful for transferring files, but is not required.

- Students will be required to show proper respect to the classroom materials, including but not limited to all computers, printers, cameras etc… This equipment is expensive, so we must take good care of it.

GRADING

- All grades will count equally, but major assignments will count more than once.

- All assignments must be turned in the day the assignment is due. If a student does not have their assignment finished during class, they have until Midnight the day it is due to email it to Mr. Briese.

- Late work will lose 10 points for every day it is late. For example, if an assignment is due on Monday but is not turned in until Wednesday, the highest grade you could receive is an 80. Late work will not be accepted after five days.

- If a student is absent, they will have as many days as they were absent to get their make-up work turned in. For example, if a student is absent two days, they will have two days to turn in their make-up work. On the third day the assignment will be late, thus losing 10 points.

HOMEWORK

- There will be some homework in this class that requires the use of a computer and programs from the Adobe Suite. If you do not have these at home, the library and computer labs are open before and after school, and Mr. Briese’s class computers will be available most days before and after school.

LEAVING CLASS

You will not leave class unless there is an emergency or you are called out by the office or nurse. I will determine if there is an emergency. The class period is only 52 minutes, so you need to be in class the entire time to complete your required assignments.

FOOD/DRINK/CLASSROOM

No food or drink is permitted in the classroom, unless it is needed for medical reasons. Regardless, no food or drinks will be allowed anywhere close to computers, printers, or any other classroom equipment. Clean your area before you leave the class. This is our classroom, so you will leave it cleaner than you found it. There is always another class arriving after you.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

As soon as you enter the class, read the board and follow the directions.
Be in your assigned seat when the tardy bell rings with working on the Do Now that has been assigned.
FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THE FIRST TIME THEY ARE GIVEN! You must listen and pay attention in order to do this.
Be POSITIVE. You will all succeed in this class.
Respect the rights and personal property of others.
Uphold academic integrity. Cheating is a serious offense. Cheaters will receive a “0” for that assignment, a conduct grade of “U” will be issued, and your parents will be contacted.
Communicate your concerns or problems with the teacher- for every problem there is a solution. I am here for you and will do all I can to help.
After you return from an absence, you must check with me for your missed assignment(s).

- Conference during or after class

ANY EXTREME BEHAVIOR THAT INTERFERES WITH THE LEARNING ATMOSPHERE OF THIS CLASS OR DISOBEYS ANY SCHOOL RULE WILL RESULT IN AN IMMEDIATE DISCIPLINARY REFERRAL.

I also understand that he/she must return this signed form for a grade by Friday August 30, 2013. For each day late, he/she will receive a penalty of 10 points off this grade.
