Students retaking a test must arrange a time during tutorials retake the test. . A student will have up to 3 school days to correct the assignment and/or retake test.
Late Work: An assignment is considered late when a student is NOT absent on the due date of an assignment but fails to turn in the assignment on the due date. The following guidelines will be invoked when a student turns in a late assignment.
- A student cannot correct late work for an enhanced grade.
- Late work will only be accepted up to 3 days after the assignment was initially due.
- If an assignment is not turned in after the 3 rd day, this will be considered a student discipline concern and will be handled as such.
- Each day an assignment is late, ten points will be deducted from the overall grade.

If students are aware of their absence in advance, they are encouraged to get the work from his/her teacher in advance of the absence. Students will be given a minimum of the number of days absent plus one to make up work missed. The teacher has the discretion to allow more days depending on circumstances. Under this sec on a student who was absent three days will be given a minimum of four days to turn in the make-up work. The type of absence will not factor in to this meline.
Campus decision: Students can retest and/or correct any major grade regardless of the grade for 1⁄2 points back. The teacher makes the decision if it is a retest or a correction of the major grade.
Campus Decision: If a student is present in class on the assignment due date and does not turn in the assignment; discipline encouragement is given every school day un l the student turns in the assignment or the three day no late work policy arrives.
CLASSROOM RULES
- Integrity first, be considerate of other students, and always strive for excellence.
- Please do not leave until dismissed by the instructor. Do not pack up early. Do not line up by the door.
- Leave your workspace clean and neat. Dispose of all trash in the proper receptacle. All messes left behind will reflect negatively on the student’s class participation grade.
- Silence phones during class. Students will often be encouraged to use smart devices during class for educational and research purposes, but phones should be left in backpacks until they are requested by the teacher for usage. Devices are not allowed in your lap and must be visible to the teacher during use. Devices are to be used for educational purposes only (gaming and texting do not qualify). All students must adhere to the guidelines set forth by the district regarding personal devices. All phones will be turned in to the teacher on test days.
- Our classroom is equipped with state-of-the-art technology that belongs to the district. Any student who purposely misuses any device or equipment will be subject to disciplinary action. During the course of the semester, we will have opportunities to use multiple tools used in the medical field. Stethoscopes, Blood Pressure Cuffs, and thermometers are just a few of the tools we have the opportunity to practice skills with. These tools are property of MISD, and will be treated and handled with the utmost respect.
- All rules in the Millsap Student Handbook will be enforced, so become familiar with the school rules.
LAB RULES
- Snacks and water are fine in class, but NEVER during/in lab when tools are out. Please pick up after yourself or this privilege will be revoked.
- Labs are designed to be interesting, thought-provoking, and fun, however, lab is NEVER the place for horseplay and it will not be tolerated. Students who are reckless in the lab will receive an automatic zero for that lab.
- Follow all safety rules, instructions, and teacher directives carefully. Pay careful attention to your work.
- Leave your equipment and lab station clean and neat. Messy lab stations and dirty equipment will reflect poorly on your grade for that lab and your class participation grade.
- Wear safe, appropriate attire on lab days. You will not participate in lab if you are not properly dressed.
- All missed labs will need to be made up promptly. Make-up labs should be scheduled ASAP by the student.
In closing… I can’t tell you how excited I am to have the opportunity to be a part of your education. I strive to do my very best to bring the skills that I have learned within the healthcare setting into the classroom. Please contact me with any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to a great year with you!
