Course Description:

United States History examines the people and events that shaped this country from the period of reconstruction to the

present time. Included in this study are the presidential administrations, foreign and domestic policies and the global

wars that transformed America from an isolated country to a modern world power. Also, the people and events that

gradually changed the United States from a rural agricultural nation to an urban, industrial power

Skill Development:

We will develop FOUR main skills throughout the year:

2.Using primary documents to analyze points of view,

context, and bias

3.Developing the ability to assess issues of change and continuity

4.Enhancing the capacity to handle diversity of interpretations

Class Expectations:

Be respectful of yourself, your peers, your instructor and the property around you at all times. Displaying respect is especially important during classroom discussions. If you have a question or desire to participate in a discussion, raise your hand and directly address arguments, not the people posing them.
Participate in class discussions and activities.
Be on time and prepared for class. This includes having your laptop, charged and ready to go.

Assignments are due at the beginning of your class period on the day specified in advance. If for any reason you are unable to complete assigned work, contact must be made with me and excused BEFORE the due date arrives. The Make-Up/Late Work policy will be governed as per the Millsap ISD Handbook.
Tardy Policy: Students that are tardy for any reason must deliver a note from the office.
