WELCOME

to General Employability

As you have probably figured out, you will have a sub for the first 6 weeks while I am home with my baby. I might pop in a few times, just to meet you and to see how things are going. For now, I am writing this to get you started with a few things that I will be expecting/wanting from you in your time with me. Ms. Taylor should be able to answer any questions that you may have but if you still need any help, you are more than welcome to email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. My email is khancock@millsapisd.net.

To start, you will need to get a few materials for my class.

  • A calendar/agenda
  • A folder or small binder
  • Pens/pencils

I will explain what you will need these for throughout this welcome note.

I do have a few expectations/rules for all of you.

  1. I don’t plan on taking up your phones but I do expect you to work while you are in class. If they become a distraction, then we will begin putting them on my desk at the beginning of every class. PLEASE don’t make me do this.
  2. Participation is important for this class. Come to class, ready to learn
  3. Respect is a huge thing for this class. So please respect your peers, respect the teachers that you will have and respect yourself.
  4. I want you to enjoy your time in school. Make this fun, don’t make this class hard, because I promise that it isn’t. Come to me if you need anything.

Grades.

Yes, we have to talk about grades!! Those materials that I’m asking you to get, this is where those come in.

  1. You will need to keep a calendar/agenda. This will be a weekly grade. It is important to start learning about time management and being able to keep your own schedules. You will need to write at least 3 either homework assignments or activities per week in your calendar.
  2. There will be a weekly curriculum, the assignment that goes along with it will also be a grade.
